Lovely Sweet Wine
Rolf Binder Wines 'Halation' Ratafia 2006 (375ml)

The Halation Ratafia is a traditional style of wine that hails from the Champagne district of France. In France they use Pinot Noir grapes; in the Barossa we use Riesling.

The free run juice is used to make the table wine, and then Christa makes a wine from the pressings, which she then fortifies with a very good brandy. The wine is sweet and viscous with a clean finish, and notes of dried apricots and fresh cashews.

Pale to mid-golden yellow; nutty fresh aroma, attractive and different showing a pungent herbal to sherry like with even dry white vermouth aromas with hints of fortifying spirit.

It has an attractive to very sweet palate, complex, with unusual dried fruit to fruitcake characters with dried apricots being the most predominant.

Perfectly matched with green olives and pate as an aperitif, top with soda water on a hot afternoon, or sip with an Orange Almond Cake for dessert.

Single: $20.00

Case: $192.00
