The Eden Valley skirts the eastern slopes of the Barossa Ranges, and is known for crisp floral Rieslings. Sitting slightly higher than the warmer Barossa Valley, the two sub-regions make up the Barossa, and give local winemakers more variety and interest in their production of outstanding wines.

The wine is traditional in style with its ripe lemon fruit flavors and good length. The 2008 Riesling is made from grapes grown on the Eastern side of Eden Valley.

Not many people realize this fact, often because they are blinded by the hype surrounding Barossa Shiraz, but Semillon from this region is considered to be the best white from the valley floor, and many local brands, including this one, are also often seen on wine critics “best of...” lists.

Drink it young and cold and fresh, with or without food. The natural fruit flavours make this an event in itself, needing no accompaniments, no friends, no ambiaence, maybe a little music.

The Tramino is made from 35% Gewurztraminer and 65% Frontignac, picked late in the season, and partially fermented to retain the fresh fruit sweetness. This vintage has seen an evolution in one of our more popular wines, by the addition of bubbles that lifts the palate and enhances the crisp fruit flavours, creating the traditional Italian style “Frizzante” (fizzy).

The Halation Ratafia is a traditional style of wine that hails from the Champagne district of France. In France they use Pinot Noir grapes; in the Barossa we use Riesling.

The free run juice is used to make the table wine, and then Christa makes a wine from the pressings, which she then fortifies with a very good brandy.

From our Magpie Estate range, this estate-grown Gewurztraminer shows lovely fresh aromas of floral, lychee and orange blossom. Slightly off-dry, the fresh fruity nose is balanced by a crisp acidic palate and rounded soft finish. A light, crisp wine to be enjoyed on any occasion.
