Buoyed by the great success of our regular Friday Night Wood Oven Pizzas that we ran during daylight saving last season, we have started them up again.
The long table along the verandah overlooking the beautiful Barossa Valley and Barossa Ranges has been full every week.
Many of the guests are locals, some returning. Others are truly amazed that it has taken them this long to get here, and are consequently booking in with larger groups for the following weeks, showing it off to the uninitiated.
Visitors to the Barossa often arrive on a Friday afternoon, plans in hand to dine at one of the Barossa's many fabulous restaurants on the Saturday night, and at a loss to know where to go on the Friday night. And not everyone wants "Posh Nosh" two nights in a row.
Thus, the Friday Night Wood Oven Pizzas have been very popular for visitors to the Valley, as recommended by other wineries and accommodation venues in the region.
Having one long table, and bench seats for sliding along to easily accommodate more diners as they arrive, the atmosphere is convivial, with strangers becoming friends, and wine lovers trying a selection of delicious Veritas wines from other's bottles.
One young couple from Germany was planning to head to a not-so-nearby caravan park after dinner to book in and set up. They sat next to a local winemaking couple, and instead set up their camper in the driveway of the friendly Barossan's. Their one-night holiday became four nights long, and the four are now firm friends.
The standard Tasting Room Wine Menu is available by the glass or bottle, and Rolf opens the cellar for access to some of our other brilliant, and sometimes very exclusive, drops.
The pizza menu changes weekly, depending on the whim of our chef, Stuart Oldfield, and can have ingredients such as Garlic Prawns, Smoked Salmon, Smoked Chicken, Chorizo, and Marinated Roast Lamb.
A Vegetarian Pizza is usually one selection of the three, and can have pumpkin, fennel, goat's cheese, or caramelized onions as an ingredient, among other tasty, quality gourmet toppings.
Gluten-free, child's pizza, and most dietary requirements can usually be met. Just let us know when you book.
